School Starts Monday

School starts Monday, so we're trying to get in some last minute fun. But it has rained almost every day. The whole summer has been very rainy.
We took the dogs on a field trip to another county that allows dogs on the beach. At first we were the only ones on the beach. The water is very brown, and I think that must be because of the storms. Usually the water is a beautiful blue-green. There's a lot of stuff washed up on shore as you can see in the photo above.
The dogs didn't seem to care what color the water was.
See what I mean about brown? This is Kiara swimming in.
And Scrappy. He's still with us and we try to include him when we can. He has respiratory issues and arthritis so he's really slowed down.
Scrappy. About 13 years old.

They all got a shower afterward since they were in salt water. And sand. Kiara drank a ton of salt water and threw it all up in the car!!
Caspian, a year old.

Shy, my 9/11 baby, has been missing since Monday. He has never missed a meal in his life, so something has happened to him : (

This summer I've been teaching the kids to swim. I don't like the lesson here, plus it rains all the time. So lessons are often canceled (if there's lightning or thunder anywhere within ten miles the pool closes) and there are no make up lessons or refunds so we lose a lot of money and the kids never learn much.

I taught swimming at the Y for a few years so figured I  could teach my own. We only had about five lessons, but they learned more in those than all last summer. We don't have a Y or indoor pool here so swimming is just Memorial Day to Labor Day so we'll probably start all over next summer!

Jessica aged out of the Police Department Explorers program. That was kind of sad. But she's on to her junior year of college and the underwater crime scene program.

We went to another beach and it was very brown too. I miss our pretty blue water.
Jessica wanted to practice snorkeling but the water was not clear at all. It rained after only an hour. We'll try it again in a couple of weeks.
Today is Jasmine's half birthday. She is 11 1/2. She got two mini cake rolls.
Tomorrow we have a 5K and Jasmine starts middle school Sunday school, choir and youth group.

School starts Monday. Jessica is a college junior, Adam a high school senior, Jasmine a 6th grader, which is middle school here, and the twins are second graders. We had orientations for the younger three yesterday. I'm happy with Jasmine's schedule and teachers. I'll talk more about that later.

Have a great weekend, and keep an eye on my other blog. I'm adding some books to the give away this week.

even with the dingy water- the beach looks beautiful!

We still have one more week until we start school. This week will be filled with open houses and last minute appointments!

Yes, I believe the rain does cause that murky water. But I don't think the dogs cared. :) Hope the school year is good for ALL.

We hope the water clears soon, but it doesn't stop raining here! Wow. Wish I could send it to the places that really need it. It was the dog's first time to swim in the ocean. We'll have to do it again soon. The one dog will probably not be with us much longer--although we've though that the whole last year.
