What's Cooking?

Jasmine cooked twice this month. We forgot she started out the month.  I think Linguine and Alfredo sauce are her favorite. We use Ragu sauce from a jar.

Jessica made pasta in the crock pot. Not sure what to call it. The called it crock pot pizza, but that's not really  what it is.

 Crock Pot Pizza
1 ½ lbs ground beef
8 oz rigatoni past
16 oz shredded mozzarella cheese
small can of tomato soup (don't add water)
28 oz pizza sauce
8 oz sliced pepperoni

Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain and set aside. Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium-high heat. Drain off grease.
In slow cooker, alternate layers of ground beef, noodles, cheese, soup, sauce and pepperoni.
Cook on Low setting for 4 hours.

You could add black or green olives, mushrooms, onions, sausage or whatever you wanted to the recipe also.

Tyler made pulled pork using the recipe on the McCormick pulled pork seasoning mix packet. Thank you to Katie for suggesting it on my October "What's Cooking" post. It came out really well.

It was hard to keep people from "testing" it as it cooked all day!

Jasmine made a noodle dish. She could live on pasta. I'm glad no one in our house has to be gluten free. That would be rough!

Jasmine's Noodle Bake
1 lg can tomato soup
1/3-1/2 c water
1 can drained corn
1 tbs sweet relish
1 tsp mustard
1 pkg hotdogs sliced
4c cooked spiral macaroni

Stir ingredients together. Pour into baking dish. Bake at 350F for 30 minutes.

Adam made a BBQ chicken pizza. He ended up doubling the crust because he didn't like the thin crust.  We always double the sauce but I think it might have tripled it.

Barbeque Chicken Bake
1 ½ c cut-up cooked turkey or chicken            1 ½ c bisquick
1/3 c chili sauce                                                1/3 c cold water
2 tbs honey                                                       1 c shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tsp soy sauce
¼ tsp red pepper sauce
1 sm onion sliced and separated into rings
cassel notes: double sauce, bake 20 min @ 350F

Mix chicken, chili sauce, honey, soy sauce, pepper sauce and onion. Set aside. Mix baking mix and cold water until dough forms. Beat 20 strokes. Pat dough into 12x6 rectangle on ungreased cookie sheet. (Dust hands with baking mix or flour to keep from sticking). Pinch edge forming 12" rim. Spoon turkey mixture onto dough. Bake 25 min at 375F or until edge of crust is light brown. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake 5 min more.

Kayla cutting the ends off of fresh green beans. I grew up calling them snap beans. Anyone else?

She made spaghetti.

Kaleb made Mexican stew.

Mexican Beef Stew
2 lbs of stew meat
28 oz can of whole or diced tomatoes undrained
1 cup frozen small whole onions
1 tsp chili powder
1 env. Taco seasoning mix
15 oz can black beans rinsed and drained
11 oz can of fiesta corn drained

Mix beef, tomatoes, onions and chili powder in crock pot. Cover and cook on low 4-6 hours. Stir in taco seasoning, beans and corn. Cook 30 minutes more or until done.

If you haven't voted for your favorite pictures of the previous years, please go back and do that. Some of them only have one or two votes. I just need to post 2012 and then you don't have to look at old pictures any more--except for the 1000th post, which is only three away.
