Help Us With a Color Scheme

I was going to touch up Kayla's walls. I used the wrong color. We have like 3 or 4 old cans of blue, and I used the one from when that was Adam's room. I decided I liked that color better. But no clue what it was. So I went to Walmart and just picked something I like. Of course this was the night before Kayla was coming home from five weeks of mission camp. So it wasn't done when she got home. There are some packed full cabinets in there that are going to have to be emptied and moved. Well, she wanted to help.

I was having her carefully go around trim. Then she decided she was going to use the roller. Yes, we taped the the white trim. But that didn't seem to matter.
Because she painted right over it and onto the ceiling!

I suggested we make the white trim a different color to cover the blue. And maybe give the room a more interesting look.

I asked for suggestions on facebook about what color to do the trim. I got everything from leave it white to paint it the same color as the room. Also got suggestions of aqua, mint, yellow, navy. I also told Felicia she should come and splatter paint it for me.

But the thing is, the room has been both a boy's room and a girl's room. Single occupant and double occupancy depending on what combination of kids is in the house. Right now Ty and Kaleb are rooming together while Kayla and Jasmine each have their own rooms. Prior to that both girls were in there. Before that Kaleb. Before that Adam. And so on. So this could become a boy's room in the future so I don't want to use lavendar or pink or anything girly. We just got rid of the bunk bed and put a single bed in, although there is a bunk that can be attached.

I looked online but only found this color combination:

We have a tile floor in the room and I don't see myself buying red carpet. But the red and blue could work for both girl or boy.

But I don't know. I could paint the walls and bottom trim the same color and do the top in red or another color.

What are your thoughts? What color trim would go well in Kayla's room?
Bottom trim blends in with the wall and top a different color?
Bedspread color? (Right now she has a choice of lavender or navy because that's what we have.
Give me your decorating tips please!

Baby Update

Little Miss River is really doing a lot of growing up lately.

She has two teeth on the bottom.

She sits up.

She rolls to get places.

She scootches.

She is up on hands and knees rocking, so we will soon be chasing her as she crawls into mischief.

She stands holding on.

She is eating fruit and veggies.

She can be very "talkative"

She will be 7 months on the 30th.

Coming and Going

This has been a summer of coming and going.

It started with Jasmine leaving on a ten-day choir tour to Colorado the day after school let out followed by our marathon Smokey Mountain trip.

From there Kayla went to camp, Ty and Rick back to work and Jasmine and I went on to Indiana. Jessica joined us there. We were able to meet up with my step daughter and her family and get a picture of all three of my grandchildren together.

Jessica returned to FL, and Jasmine and I went on to Cincinnati to the International Christian Retail Show, which was really small this year. We stayed with a friend for a few days.

Then Jasmine and I returned home by way of Chattanooga.

You've seen most of those photos in previous posts, but I'll post a few here for those who missed it.

We added Chattanooga because we weren't quite ready to go home.

When we arrived home, everyone was there except Kayla, who had already been at mission camp for a couple of weeks. We'd been sending her postcards along the way.

But then on Sunday the 10th, Kaleb left for camp, Adam left for California and Jasmine and I left for Gainesville for her surgery. That was in the previous post.

Off to camp

Jasmine and I got home on Wednesday. Kaleb got home on Saturday and left again on Sunday for his second week of camp.

Jasmine went to a couple of hours of percussion camp today to see how she'd do. She was not in good spirits when I left her, but Jessica picked her up for lunch and a movie. She just got home and seems more relaxed now.

So, what's ahead?
Two weeks of band camp for Jasmine
Surgery follow up on August 1 for Jasmine. We plan to make a quick trip to Jacksonville after that.
Kaleb will be home on Saturday and no other trips planned.
Kayla will be home on the 28th and no other trips planned.
Tyler turns 26 on Saturday and we're going to the Chinese buffet.
Adam should be home sometime next weekend.
Ty and I are supposed to be completing advanced scuba but the shop we signed up with had a major turn over in instructors and basically there is no one for that class. We are going to start over with a different dive shop.

We plan to go back to Wakulla Springs and let anyone who wants to make the 22 foot jump do so. We have to wait until after Jasmine's follow up though. She has to keep the cast on her nose and dry until then.

Ty, Jessica, Jasmine and I also want to make a springs dive and we have to wait for the same reason.

Try outs for the Missioula Children's Theater play are August 8.

So that's where we are now.

We go back to school August 18th.

What about the rest of you? What do you still have planned and when do your kids go back to school or start homeschool?

Jasmine's Surgery

We have been through a lot of surgeries together--cleft lip, cleft palate, club foot, finger surgery, second cleft palate repair, skull repair, two neck repairs, bone graft etc.

Hopefully we just completed our last set of surgeries--lip and nose revisions.

Making the most of her last meal the night before surgery.

Preparing for surgery

The surgery turned out to be longer and more complicated than planned due to a lot of scar tissue in her nose.

I had expected her to be discharged early afternoon and drive all the way home Tuesday, but Jasmine was discharged until after 6 p.m. We only drove about an hour toward home. We drove the rest of the way home Wednesday.

Today is Jasmine's 12th adoption anniversary. Tara came over to help us celebrate.

Jasmine is supposed to be at percussion camp all day Saturday and every day next week, but she is limited to very light exercise and not carrying anything over 10 pounds. So we'll have to work something out for her.
