Chicago

Those who are my facebook friends have already seen almost 300 photos from our Chicago trip. I'll spare you that many and just post a few from each place.

We were on I 65 through Alabama making pretty good time when we found there was a bridge out. There was no marked detour, so Jessica got the atlas out and found some roads that would take us around it. That's when we saw this park a couple of blocks from the highway. We drove down to see what it had and found it had picnic tables, a play park and the fountains. We stopped for a whole hour because we'd been driving quite a while with only one quick break.

We made it up into Indiana the first day and only had to drive about four hours to Chicago the next day. So we were able to get our city passes and go to Shedd's Aquarium and Willis Tower (formally Sears tower) Sky Deck.

A 3D movie was included with our city pass.
We took nine photos here so we could get a good family photo. This one with me in it is good. What we didn't realize is that in the next eight photos Kaleb made ugly faces. I was so unhappy!!!! There is not one usable picture with all the kids taken here.
He made puffy cheeks and bugged  his eyes out in all of them. I don't know if you can see it here. It may not seem like a big deal, but I'd told them I'd get one enlarged. So he made sure I couldn't do that.
This one on The Ledge in the Sky Deck came out well. I guess since I didn't say I wanted to get a nice one to enlarge. I downloaded pictures each night so until then I didn't know whether the pictures had come out well or not. That's why Kaleb was able to make the faces in all the photos. With my camera you have to look through the view finder so you can't see everything.

Anyone else ever go to the Sky Deck?

To be continued.

I know you are disappointed about the pictures that didn't turn out, but I think the one on the Ledge at the Sky Deck is a great picture. I would have that one enlarged.

I am only about 90 miles from Chicago. My husband and I often visit for long weekend get-a-ways. There is lots to see and do. Hope you had a great time!

We did. Thank you. Even though I grew up in Elkhart, I never actually went to Chicago much. Only two museums. My kids had never seen Lake Michigan before.

I know the picture won't matter much in the long run, I just thought we were past that behavior : ( There are times I tell them they can all make their funniest face, but otherwise they know the pictures are for their Snapfish books.

We went to the sky deck when it was still the sears tower... about 5 years ago the kids were in afriends daughters wedding in Chicago but we just came in for the wedding and never saw any of the fun things!

I paid to go out on the one that stretches out over the Grand Canyon. I went about an inch out, got so scared, I threw up...sat down and they had to drag me off.

Never again.

I'd been to two museums and the Sears tower but many years apart. There was so much more we'd all like to see but next year we're headed to St. Louis for convention and Jasmine wants to go to Mt. Rushmore so I'm not sure when we'll get back to Chicago.

Sarah--I hear you. I went out on the ledge for a photo and that's it. I know it's a mind game but....
