Adoption Anniversary

Adam's homecoming day June 1995. That was SD. Why else would I need long sleeves in June?

Adam's adoption day December 8, 1995.

We were getting ready for a move to England, but we couldn't apply for Adam's passport until after his adoption. Then the passport agency went on strike. Rick went on to England without us, and we stayed with my mom in Indiana for several weeks.

Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of Adam's adoption day. We had pizza, wings and bread sticks. I know I've mentioned some of Adam's struggles on this blog, but there are so many good things to celebrate and I know as he takes time to think through his actions he is going to make better and better choices for himself. I can't wait to see what the future holds for him.

Still signing Christmas cards.

Tyler and Jessica with their gifts for their 1st graders through their Explorer program. It's supposed to be for underprivileged kids, but this year many of the Explorers were disappointed by the lack of gratitude shown by the kids for the presents. Sad. The Explorers asked the kids what they wanted for Christmas and did their best to get it for them. The kids should have been told that these teens didn't have to buy them anything so be thankful. And all the gifts were nice--Nerf guns, Barbies, Disney Princesses etc.

The first day they met their child(ren). A week later they hosted a pizza party at a bounce play place.

Wow, he sure had a head full of hair. I understand about all the dates, I makes it hard to determine which to celebrate.

It is a shame those kids didn't show some appreciation. It takes some of the fun out of the activity.
