Making Cookies

We haven't done anything very exciting yet this summer. This week is VBS--Boomerang Express. After VBS we are doing some activities to help Jasmine with her math. Money is a hard concept for her (not spending mine but knowing how to count it out) so she gets one cent for each problem she gets right on an electronic time test. She has to count out the money using the biggest coins she can first. Then she can spend it at a little store I established with some treats--bubble gum 11 cents, swedish fish- 6 cents and so on. She has to give me the correct amount of money to purchase her treats.

Then yesterday evening we made cookies and worked on measuring--and eating!

Measuring

Cleaning up as we go

We used this very easy recipe:
Chocolate Chip Cookies (small batch)
1 c + 2 tbs flour 1/2 c butter softened
1/2 tsp baking soda 6 tbs sugar
1/2 tsp salt 6 tbs firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla 1 egg
6 oz chocolate chips

Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Set aside. Cream butter,
sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until smooth. Add egg and beat.
Gradually mix in flour mixture. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop
by rounded teaspoons on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake
9-11 minutes at 375.
