Spring Break

Spring break is winding down for us, while some of you are starting break on Monday. Ours had its ups and downs. Several of the activities I planned were from one child's wish list, and she managed to sabotage them for herself, but I refused to let her ruined it for everyone. We pressed onward with whoever was cooperating at the moment.

Before spring break even started, two group went scuba diving. Group one consisted of Kaleb doing a non-certified dive, while Rick and Jasmine did a regular dive. Jasmine has a lot of ear trouble and was not able to go below 10 feet. So she completed a shallow dive, and then Rick did a 30 foot dive. Unfortunately he ruptured his ear drum!

Then Tyler and I did a dive. There was a strong current making it challenging. We only dove to 37 feet. It was good visibility, though.

On Monday we were going to have a fairly quiet day simply walking/running and cooking out at a local park. But the weather looked like it was going to be stormy, so we grabbed frozen baked spaghetti from Walmart and went to Jessica's.

Afterwards we walked/ran at a park we hadn't been to before.

On Tuesday we were supposed to whitewater raft, but in addition to rupturing his ear, Rick blew his knee out, so we had to cancel that. Ty had already taken the day off, so we drove to St George Island and climbed the lighthouse.

Then we played at the beach behind the lighthouse.

To be continued ...

Random Thanksgiving Photos

It's been a quiet week here, so I'm going to post some random photos from Thanksgiving at Jessica's house.
Adam photo bombing Jasmine, Tara and ZonaMae (Hunter's niece)

Part of the crew. We were waiting for Rick and the twins to arrive.

Rick carving one of the turkeys. Jessica got one from work and baked it, and a friend of Hunter's gave them a fried turkey. It was amazing.

Adam, Tara, Kayla, Jasmine, Kaleb

The three "littles," but with Kealen, River and Winter (on the way), they aren't the littles anymore. I guess they are the middlers. Or what else could they be?

I played around with the filters on this photo. Which of the 4 do you like best? (I can't' remember which I ordered for Christmas cards)

Adam, Tara and Kealen. Wasn't sure if Tara and Kealen would be there. They are on again off again a lot. But they are young and have plenty of time. Still, Tara and Kealen would be welcomed members of the family. Adam spent 18 + months with Deja, but one year after they broke up, she had a baby. Didn't lose any time there.

The only thing I did in the last few days was dive and manage to lose my fairly new $450 dive camera :(

The camera is still strapped to my left wrist in this picture.

Ty and I were supposed to dive today, but conditions are poor.

Hopefully I'll have something more exciting to post about next time! Slow week here.

Between Trips

We've only had three days between our trips to New York, New Orleans, Orlando and then Indiana. Between Orlando and Indiana, we went diving. Ty certified in 2005 but then only dove once, and that was shortly after he certified.

July 2 Refresher shallow dive for Ty, and Jasmine working on clearing her ears. The ENT specialist wasn't much help.

Shallow dive

Shallow dive. Regulator recovery.

Shallow side of the jetties.

Photo bomb by our pregnant snorkeler.

Dive buddies.

Merman sighting

I hired our instructor to go with us on the dives since we are all beginners.

About 40 feet down

I didn't know I could keep it. I thought if it was that deep, it was alive. But I guess they are green if they are still alive. Ty kept his.

July 3 we took time to go to the pool
I work on teaching them to swim in the summer.

We went to the bay for the 4th of July.Jessica and Adam had to work, so we had a lot less people.

Jasmine is my spotter

Kaleb on the kneeboard. He left wearing a swimsuit and lifejacket. He returned wearing only the lifejacket!! Perhaps I should get him compression shorts for kneeboarding?

I let him borrow my towel.
The next day, July 5th, Ty, Jessica, Jasmine, the twins and I left for Indiana!
