Ty's Home

Ty is here for a short summer break. He flew in Friday morning June 27. (Jasmine and I got home late on the 25th.)

He has my hair. It grows straight out, not down.

Saturday morning Tyler and the twins did a 6K for a local children's home The rest of us did the one-mile walk.

Ty hasn't run in a long time, but he finished okay. This seemed to be a slow race overall.

Kaleb got second in age group.

Ty got first in his age group.
We went to the pool so Ty could coach the girls on the climbing wall. Neither of the girls had made it up very far.

Ty showed them one route up.

A neighbor asked me to go for a girl's day out with her. Jasmine and Josi's daughter Joy joined us, and one of Joy's friends came along too. Jessica had to work. The movie was really, really good. I was skeptical because of the scene with the two dads tied together in the preview. I was afraid it was going to be a "kids outwit the dads" kind of movie, but it wasn't.
The little ones stayed at our house with Tyler.

Rick and I went to Applebees for our anniversary.

And then to Chills.

Tuesdays and Thursdays are our long days and it gets worse starting this coming Tuesday. Jasmine has physical therapy for some muscle issues from 9 a.m. until 10. She has summer band from 10:30-11:45. The twins have hip hop at 12:00 and Jasmine has hip hop at 1:00. So we all leave home at 8:30 and not get back until 2:30. Then the twins have gymnastics/tumbling at 5:30. Band is M-Th for three weeks. We won't be able to walk in the park in the mornings anymore, and there are only two days we'll be able to work on swimming.

Lance is the hip hop teacher. The kids love him.

So that's some of what we've been doing lately. The kids are also doing the summer bridge activity book. It's required for Kayla, but they are all doing it. Jasmine has a book to read which is no problem because she reads a lot, and she has summer math work.

I'll  post pictures of the 4th soon.
We are going to be working through Just for Me:
My Family, which is a good book for ages 4/5 to about 8. Especially for girls who have joined your family through foster care or adoption and for the siblings too. I'll be posting about that on my blog for girls soon. It's a girls book but the activities are geared for families.

Hanging Out

Mostly this week has been spent hanging out with family and friends.
Rick's family came over and we had cream cheese chicken chili. Those of you who've been following this blog for a while have seen that recipe more than once.

My mom with Jasmine after church.

We went over to Rick's parents' apartment. Adam and Kaleb have been staying there with Rick.

Rick and his mom

We did some fireworks at my sister's.

Adam  made this.

We brought this to my friend Juanita's lake house (actually it's her in-laws')

Rick had to go back to Florida to solve a work problem, so he and the twins along with Adam left for home after our time at the lake.
Today is Juanita's 51st birthday and Rick and my 25th anniversary. She was in our wedding on her 26th birthday.

Our daughters with their Krispy Kreme donuts for good grades.

My sister bought us lunch at the food court.

So that's what we've been doing. How about you? Some of you answered that last post, but some didn't. Anyone doing anything exciting for the 4th?

We are headed home tomorrow so will drive the 3rd and 4th.
